Foster

If you are not able to make a long term committment to a dog right now, or are just not quite sure
yet, then fostering is a great way to help a dog in need. Foster homes help us transition dogs from
life in the shelter to life in a home. We cover medical expenses and the first bag of food, but ask
fosters to contribute with ongoing basic costs of care such as food.

The foster process:

Meet our Adoptable Dogs: If you are interested in one of our adoptable dogs please contact us to
schedule a meeting. If you don't see a dog that interests you, please let us know what kind of dog
you'd like to foster. Chances are, there's one just like you want waiting in the shelter.

Complete a foster Application: You can print and mail the application or save your typed answers and
email it to us.

Home Check: After we receive your application, we will schedule a home visit with you.

Foster Period: Fosters are asked to keep theit dog until a permanent home can be found. Though it
is not required, we also ask fosters to participate in training clinics with their dog (at our expense)
and to bring their foster dog to adoption events from time to time.

No Place Like Home

Approximately 4-6 million animals die in shelters each year. This is due to an
overpopulation of dogs and cats, and far too few homes for them. While
spay/neuter programs work to address the problem of overpopulation, we must also
work to find loving homes for shelter animals.There is nothing as rewarding as
saving a life. When you adopt a shelter dog you are doing just that, while gaining a
loyal and loving companion.

The adoption process:

Meet our Adoptable Dogs: If you are interested in one of our adoptable dogs please contact us to
schedule a meeting.

Complete an Adoption Application: You can print and mail the application or save your typed answers
and email it to us.

Home Check: After we receive your application, we will schedule a home visit with you.

Trial Foster Period: If you like the dog you met, and the application and home are approved, we will
begin a trial period where you can get to know the dog in your home and determing if this is the right
dog for you.

Adoption Finalized After Two Week Trial Period: At the end of the trial period, if it seems to be a
good fit for both you and the dog, we will sign the final adoption papers.

Adoption Fee $125 (this fee is sometimes reduced or waived depending on circumstances)

Adopt

Shadow's Fund is always looking for loving homes, that are committed to keeping their
new dog for the entire life of the dog. When you adopt from us, your new pet will be
spayed or neutered and current on shots. We will also provide you with resources and
support if necessary to address behavioral, health or other issues.
